From Listening to Learning — Why We Created Our Lyric Song Sheets 🐩🎵
At Poodles & Friends, we’ve always believed that learning doesn’t have to feel like a lesson.
Sometimes it can be a song playing quietly in the morning. Sometimes it can be a familiar rhythm that helps a child know what comes next. And sometimes, it can simply be words on a page that they can follow at their own pace. That’s why we create free illustrated lyric song sheets to accompany our Poodles & Friends songs.
Bringing the Song Onto the Page
Our songs were created to make everyday learning and routines feel a little gentler. But children experience information in different ways. Some enjoy listening. Some like to read along. Some understand something more easily when they can see the words in front of them. And others simply enjoy having something familiar they can return to again and again.
So we thought: why should the experience stop when the music stops? Our lyric sheets bring together the song, words and Poodles & Friends characters in a simple printable format. Children can listen while following the words, read them independently, sing together with an adult or simply keep the sheet nearby as a familiar visual resource.
Turning Our Songs Into Something Children Can Hold
As our Poodles & Friends music collection has grown, we’ve been creating illustrated lyric song sheets to accompany our songs — bringing the words, music and characters together on the page. From morning routines and reading time to holidays, learning and everyday moments, each sheet gives children another way to enjoy a familiar song. They can listen and follow the words, sing along, read at their own pace, or simply enjoy the illustrations alongside the music.
For us, the lyric sheets aren’t separate from the songs. They’re another part of the experience — helping move Poodles & Friends music from listening, to reading, to singing and learning.

A lyric sheet is a very simple resource, but it gives families and educators different ways to use the same song.
A child might listen to the music first and later recognise the words on the page. A parent might sing along during a morning routine. An educator might use a sheet during a quiet reading activity. Another child might simply enjoy looking at the Poodles while listening. There is no single “correct” way to use them. We want our resources to be flexible enough to fit around the child — rather than expecting every child to fit around the resource.
